Four years of very few home sales

For four years, fewer existing homes have sold than in three out of four years on record. Most of the sales that do happen are moves people can't put off: a new job, a death, a divorce.

With mortgage rates back above 7%, owners with lower rates aren't selling. Fewer homes come up, and in cities already short of homes, they sell fast.
